First and foremost, let me congratulate you for your suh-weet victory. With almost 14 million votes, you won without any difficulty and finished way way ahead than my much-deserving bet and your cousin, Gibo Teodoro. Actually, I'm expecting from the start your easy victory but still, I didn't gave in to the pressure from my friends and family to vote for you. Duh! Honestly, I rather eat booger than to vote for a lame-duck president like you. Yes good senator, you read me right, I just compared you to a lame duck. I firmly believe that you cannot run a country because on your 12 years of being a politician, you just sashayed your way in and you just sashayed your way out of the Congress and that's it. What a waste of time and money your so-so performances were.
Good senator, if you doesn't take advantage of being the son of Ninoy and Cory, I doubt your ability to win this election. Seriously. You always basked behind the shadows of your parents and continue to do so even after their deaths. And it's kinda an overkill. You are a trying hard copycat of your father! Pardon me sir, but your father is much more intelligent, much more competent, much more charismatic and better looking than you sir. Are you sure he is your father? Because, really sir, there is no trace of Ninoy in you.
Every campaign advertisements you used last election played up your promise to eliminate corruption. That's a lie! It is impossible to eliminate corruption in our present society. And with you as our president? That's fncking impossible sir! That may not sound very pleasing to the ears and I'm not being negative too but that's reality. So stop pandering to us like we're a bunch of illiterates. Anyway, maybe your laughing your ass out while reading my letter because my arguments are already null. You are now the 15th President of the Philippines. You won sir, you won!
I wrote this letter not just to insult you but also to give you a suggestion. My original plan is to make a paper boat and make it float on Pasig River and hope that it would reach your table and be read by you. But it's kinda stupid these days, circa 2010. Going back to my suggestion, puh-leez reappoint Esperanza Cabral as DOH secretary. She's one hell of a secretary! She did an awesome showing by proving that she is no push over. She got the platinum balls to get things done even if it goes against the beliefs of some irritating Catholic Church leaders. Pardon me again sir but I believe that she will be a better president than you.
In two weeks time, you will take your oath as the president. And for sure, you're pretty excited that you bought a wig - haha, I'm kiddding sir. Seriously, your team has been preparing for this for months now. Oh, I bet that would be "the greatest show in town" with lots and lots of celebrities. With Kris as the director, that would be spectacular! Anyway, my challenge to you is this - work on your fashion sense, be Noynoy and not just your parent's son and most importantly, don't disappoint those who voted for you pretty fucking please. And another thing, may you not be stupid enough to forget that you actually promised the moon and stars for us. You may not know me sir but I'll stick my eyes on you. And if you screwed up, don't worry, I'll be there to punch you in the face. Goodluck President Noynoy!
I agreed when Alfonso Manalastas posted on his FB status that this year’s line-up is the suckiest in history. This is very true especially to the Vice-Presidentiables.
The Pinoy voting population does not care much about candidates running for the Veep. The focus mainly is on the Presidentiable, the man who can heal this “Sick Man of Asia”. But, it is still important for us to look on each of the VPs because as we all know, Veep is just a breath away from the seat that is Malacanang. So it’s time to busy ourselves with finding the better option. Let us not be lured by their commercials or their non-sense platforms. They’ve fooled us many times over and look where it got us to.
Have you ever think what if Sen. Edgardo Angara won the Vice-Presidentiable bid in 1998 and eventually succeeded Erap and not Pres. Arroyo? IMHO, we wouldn’t have so many troubles as we have now, no “Hello Garci” *imitating Mrs. President’s voice*, no ZTE scandal blah blah. So, let's consider these few words about our VPs.
I’m no Mar voter. Well, I used to be but he lost my vote when he married someone (a media personality, mind you) just to propel his bid in the race. The worst is, he proposed to Korina in freakin’ Wowowee – a noontime circus. And not to mention, the stupidity of his commercials,"Anak, itabi mo, ako na". Sheeze!
Mirror, mirror in the wall, who’s the trapo-est of them all? The self-proclaimed Veep Loren Legarda. Why not? Isn’t she hate Villar? But now, she’s running with him. WTF! She sacrificed her dignity just for this election. I think something is up on her sleeve. Scary!
Binay is one-hell of a mayor. “Ganito kami sa Makati, Ganito sana sa buong bansa” pol ad shows great promise. But I doubt if what he has done in his city could cover the whole country. Could he give free hospitalization, free school bags or free movie tickets to everyone in the country including those in Tawi-Tawi?I don’t think so, it's quite impossible. I’m not being negative here, na-ah. It doesn’t take a genius to tell that 567,349 is nothing, as in nothing, compared to 91 million.Helloooo?!
Yesh, Bayani Fernando is weird. You know, blue fences, pink lanes, pink urinals but at least he’s getting something done. So, I didn't mind seeing pink and blue fences not only in Manila but in the whole territory of the country as well. But what's with the cutting of trees along Katipunan Av?Oh bad!He failed the green groups, he failed me.
Edu Manzano may be charismatic and all being a son of show business. But are we now ready to have a leader who has nothing to go for him but the endorsements of pips from tinseltown?NO WAY! Have we not learned our lessons during the Erap years? *wink, wink* Let me state in no uncertain terms I will vote for him even if he’s the running-mate of G1BO becausehe doesn’t deserve my vote.
My apologies to Jay Sonza, Perfecto Yasay and Dominador Chipeco Jr. for not including them in this post. But that’s not my fault.I never heard them speak in public so I don’t know what they will have to offer if they win. There, take that!
I am not closing my windows yet but as of now, I'm signifying my intention to vote for none of the Vice-Presidentiables at all. Simply because I don't want the choices presented to us right now- they suck as Alfonso puts it. But I still hope that the candidates themselves will make an effort to convince us voters that they deserve our votes.
DISCLAIMER: Folks, you don't need to agree with me. I'm not forcing you to vote for Gibo. I wouldn't argue if you're not vying for him. If you think he's not capable of doing the job, so be it. But, it doesn't hurt to listen to what other people thinks, isn't it? I can guarantee you that nobody pays me to write these things. And no... no... I don't work for any politician. I have no other motives other than to share my thoughts and urge you to share yours as well. No argument being solicited. Just a good all discussion babe, that's all.
Honestly, Gibo wasn't on my list before. But when I saw videos of him in forums and interviews, I couldn't deny that he really has what it takes to be the next Philippine president. But I think that he has still a lot to face for us to be 100% sure that we'll vote for him. Of course, he needs to be worthy of our vote.
However, I listed down the reasons why I will probably vote for Gilberto Teodoro:
1. He is smart and decent.
You can notice this when he speaks. Every words make sense. You can notice his wisdom when he speaks in forums and interviews. May mga sense naman ang sinasabi niya compared to the other candidates. Yung iba speaks like a trapo. Gibo speaks like a statesman. His words are rare gifts unlike the words of Erap, Loren, Jamby, Ping, Gloria, Noynoy, Bayani and Binay which are all worthless junk.
2. He is loyal.
He has strong ties with the second most corrupt administration the country has ever had. Surveys upon surveys revealed that Gibo's attachment with Gloria is really pulling his popularity down. But despite of this, he continue to support Gloria. He never tried to win the public's sympathy by washing his hands. He never, in any way, trashed talked the government he serves, not even once.
3. He has track record to boot.
There is no question that Gibo has the requisite intelligence and academic preparation for the office he seeks. He finished his Law Studies at UP with flying colors. He topped the Philippine Bar exam in 1989. He completed his Masteral at Harvard Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of New York in 1997. He was a Colonel of the Air Force Reserve of the Philippines. He was a Congressman before becoming the youngest National Defense Secretary. That's a quite pretty resume, Sir.
4. He does have presence.
Gibo has this certain aura that exudes an equal sense of authority and grace. What I'm trying to say is that his mere presence commands attention. That's the kind of leader we need, a leader who we will look up to.A leader who can keep us in our toes and leaves us in awe while in his presence.
5. He answers very well.
I watched FOCAP Presidential Forum on ANC yesterday and I can say that together with Dick Gordon, he gave the most sensible answers. His answers to the most difficult and provoking questions are unbiased. He answered every issue the best and honest way he could.
During the ANC-sponsored leadership forum in DLSU-Manila, Sen. Madrigal (another presidential wannabe) asked him, "If elected President, magtatanaw ka ba ng utang na loob kay GMA?" Gibo confidently answered, "Utang na loob sa definition ko ay ang pagsusukli ng mabuti sa mabuti. 'Pag masama na, nothing is worth my reputation and my father's reputation."
On another interview, host Ricky Carandang asked him if he is afraid of being linked to the Arroyo adminstration, he replied, "No. Dito ako naninindigan, dito ako naninilbihan. Hindi naman ako isang tao na maninilbihan na ikakahiya ko ang aking bahay. Hindi ako ganung klaseng tao, Ricky."
When asked if he will prevent people from filing cases against Gloria, Gibo vowed never to use the Office of the President to pressure or influence the decision of the people against his predecessor.
I admired his answers. It says so much about his character. And, we all know what well, put-together answers imply. It means someone's ready.
6. His campaign is a campaign of positivity.
On the first day of the official campaign period, he said that he will never engage in "pakikipagbatuhan ng putik" with other candidates. That's a good thing. IMHO, politicos who engage in political bickering are certified trapos.
And he's the only presidential candidate to center his campaign on Platforms, Positive Change and Solutions.
Before, I thought that Gibo will be Gloria 2.0 but he proved me wrong. Gibodoes not have dictatorial tendencies, a significant difference with Gloria. While Gloria seems to be a pseudo-dictator, Gibo is a true-blue democrat. Gloria lies but Teodoro tries not to. And unlike his Madam, he's NOT power-hungry.
Gibo may not be in the league of others when it comes to media visibility (I'm looking at Villar, Noynoy and Fernando) but you can never question his capability to lead the country. Critics and skeptics questioned his winnability in the presidential race considering his poor standing in surveys. But, he's a man who doesn't believe that popularity is the game of public service.
Some of us still thinks that Gibo is bound to be Gloria reincarnated. But I hope that the ghosts of Arroyo administration will not prompt us to overreact. We need to be unbiased. We need to take away anger. We need to take away hate.We need to look at the character.
Would Gilberto Teodoro Jr. make a good president?I certainly think so. It is just unfortunate that in our country POPULARITY exceeds COMPETENCY.
DISCLAIMER: Folks, you don't need to agree with me. I'm not forcing you not to vote for Noynoy. I wouldn't argue if you're vying for him. If you think he's capable of doing the job, so be it.
I do have great respect for the Aquinos. I learned in grade school that Ninoy taught us how to stand and die for what we believe is right while her wife, former Pres. Cory trumped dictatorship and restored democracy. But until now, I am still not convinced by the sentiments of those voting for Senator Noynoy this coming May 10. Yes, I know, he's the unico hijo of the famous Aquino couple, his blood may have the genetics of martyrdom but it's not enough to bring him to Malacanang.
Admittedly, this blogger is not well versed with politics but as a student looking into the matter, let me share my 2-cent worth of idea about why I won't vote for Senator Noy:
1. He don't have the credentials, he don't have the track record.
I'm very curious about his legislative performance so I did some research and know what I found... NONE.*start of rant*He have been a congressman for 9 years and a senator for 3 years and he haven't passed even a single resolution he authored. Imagine that? After 12 years in Congress? What in the world he's doing there for? Sashay his way in and sashay his way out? And that's it, huh? *end of rant*
If he did not perform well as a senator, there is a very high possibility that he won't perform well as a President. Why would I vote an incompetent senator to the presidency?
2. He is un/gentleman.
More than his accomplishments or the lack of it, it's his demeanor which turns me off.He would be gentleman one time and a brute another time. Back then, his campaign used surveys to flaunt his insurmountable lead in the presidential race. Now, that his nearest rival is fast dwindling behind him, he have the gut to say "surveys can be bought in Quiapo". WTF. Isn't the survey he's talking about came from the same company that had him in the lead with a wide margin few months ago?
Then, just last week (I think) he said that if PGMA appoints a new Chief Justice as replacement for Justice Puno, he wouldn't not recognize it if he became president. (Wishful thinking, Sir)Oh, that only shows how immature he is.Would he rather have a vacant Chief Justice seat that would eventually result to power vacuum?
I just want to remind you good Senator that we don't need a leader who will lead this country to chaos.
3. He's an invertebrate.
I personally believe that Sen. Noy does not have the backbone nor the balls to assume alpha male status in Philippine politics. He's afraid to be at the forefront of issues of high significance, he's always staying on the sidelines. Is this his way of playing safe? He only takes the limelight when the dust have settled and it is safe to say to come out.
Remember good Senator that, when you don't speak your mind, it's bad politics.
4. He's not a man of words.
Another thing which is a source of my discomfort is "he change his mind like a girl change her clothes". During the wake of his mother, he said that he's not planning to seek higher office. But, why the sudden change of plan? He could have translated the throngs who paid their last respect to Tita Cory as votes in his favor if he runs for office.
Just a piece of advice Sen. Noy, when you say something, mean it so that we will believe in you.
5. He has circumvented the law for premature campaigning.
I have seen his star-studded music video... I mean political ad being played on tv over and over again. Why have he made such a move even before the actual campaign period starts?According to the Election Code, he and other politicos cannot campaign as of yet.He cannot reason out that other politicians doing it too. Don't he believe in the evil versus good mantra? And don't dare tell us that it's not a campaign ad because only trapos do that.
6. His words are empty.
I seldom see Sen. Noy being interviewed. And much as I want to present supporting evidence, I just can't because I could not remember anything he said at all. His being not a good tv material is not the issue. The issue here is if he has something good to say. And when he do speak up, make sure it's not empty. Yes, the country needs a man of action and yes, action speaks louder than words. But words alone can appeal to our hearts. He must talk in such a manner that we will actually find time to stop and listen. He is a leader. He meant to inspire us.
7. He's there for a vengeance.
After announcing his bid to the presidential race, he vowed to run after the Marcos wealth. I do believe that it is not the job of the President to personally run after anybody, enemy or not.Why not let the wheel of justice take its course? No direct Presidential intervention for or against anybody. Have you forgotten Sir of the principle "Genuine reconciliation is democracy in action". Where's the democracy there, Sir?
8. He's politics as usual.
I read in GMA News website that the day after Ondoy devastated Manila and its nearby provinces, Senator Noy met with former Pres. Erap to discuss possible union of their camps for this year's election. Sheeze. While thousands are still suffering from flood, Senator Benigno Aquino III is politicking. Hanep!
Like what I said before in my post "8 months from now... ", Sen. Noy maybe the most popular and the most winnable presidential candidate but he's not the most competent and most qualified to occupy the highest post in the land. He may be a good man, but he will be an ineffectual president. I think he will only be exploit by unfavorable elements, his inner circle maybe. We need to vote for hardworking people. No to Noynoy! Because INCOMPETENCE can't solve anything. Remember folks thatINCOMPETENCE is no different from CORRUPTION.
102 days. That's how long before the much awaited May 2010 Election happens. It will be a crucial moment for Filipinos, a turning point in other words. Once again, we will attempt to put whom we think is the "best" candidate in the seat of power that is Malacañang.
We think that we are not in control. But the truth is, we still do have the control. We still have the power to change everything for the better. All we need to do is vote wisely. Let's not content ourselves with choosing for what's immediately available to us. We should look at every possible candidate, his pluses and minuses. Forget the surveys for Pete's sake. Who cares if this or that candidate is on top or bottom of the surveys?Let us not also overreact and favor perceived moral ascendancy and ignore other equally important criteria. Now, there is no room for "gambles". It is now or never.
God bless us all and may the May 2010 Elections push through as planned.

Do I still need to reiterate that it's just nine days before Christmas?*bells ringing in the background*
I.MEMORIES IN NAGA
The BUTC Pep Squad
I'm going to miss the 10th PNSA- Regional Congress. *sigh* Last December 3, I got to watch the PNSA PEP Squad Competition and I was on Team BUTC of course. I hate to do the story telling; all I can tell is that this was the most heated PEP squad competition I have ever witnessed! Congratulations to University of St. Anthony for winning though I think that Immaculate Conception College of Albay was more deserving of taking home the plum. Meanwhile, BUTC squad failed to penetrate the Top 3. But according to an insider (and as confirmed by Kuya Alfred), we are the 3rd runner up (again? that's also our ranking during the BU Week) WHOOAH! Not bad! At least, we were able to defeat nothing less than University of Nueva Caceres and (the so proud) Aquinas University of Legazpi among others. My salutations!
But, the thing that will be inscripted in my almanac for sometime was the Search for Ambassador and Ambassadress of Goodwill 2009 when "BU spirit" was felt all over the UNC Sports Palace. Three BU campuses (BU Tabaco Campus, BU Polangui Campus and BU Main Campus) cheered together to support our 5 candidates. I got to tell you, I almost lost my voice there. HAHA.
II. THESIS! THESIS! THESIS!
Last week, I submitted three title proposals to my professor in Research. And luckily for me, he approved the one I like the most: "Health Consumer's Perception on RA 9205 or Cheaper Medicines Act of 2008". YIPEE! Now, I can start making Chapters 1 to 3. But, I don't have an adviser yet. I gotta look for one first.
I think four of my batch mates are already scheduled to have their pre-oral defense on Thursday. Whatevs.
III. WASTED VOTES.
I can't vote for Villar. Uh-oh. I can't vote for Noynoy either. Or for any crap politicians for that matter. Because I cannot vote. YES! I won't be able to participate in the 2010 Elections because it will coincide with our Summer Affiliation in Manila. Holy crap! Kapag sineswerte ka nga naman. I think, all in all, we are 130 - 140 + 3rd year nursing students and I presume 110 or so are registered voters. That will be the same number of votes that will be wasted next year. Sheeze!
IV. END OF DARK AGE
I'm not a celebrity(not yet) and my love life is plain boring. But, I know some of you are eagerly waiting for the end of the "23 Days of Dark Age". Some are quite curious if it will end well for both parties. Well, the "Dark Age" ended shorter than expected. The night before I leave for the Congress, we mutually agreed to stop this whole drama. And the next day, as if nothing happened. We are seatmates on the bus going to Naga and I can say that everything seems back to normal.
Actually, she celebrated her birthday last Sunday. While our friend (her roommate) also notched another year last year. Happy birthday gals. Thank you for having both of you in my life. Hmmm... where's my treat?
***
I'm still ruminating if I will pursue my plan of creating a blog for the 2010 Elections. Hmp. I need co-authors of course.
God bless us and may Erap not win.
